The Short:
53feet is the experimental site of Jordan M. Gadapee. On the site you'll find a variety of timed graphic design compositions. This new version of the site features timed compositions from 3 unique categories: Time Stamps, Do-Overs, & 53Promo.
Time Stamps are journalistic compositions that capture a specific moment, idea, mood, etc happening at any given time of day.
Do-Overs (Do-Overs) are timed remakes of a found piece of design. It maybe be a logo, package, web-site, and so forth.
53Promo are fun playful designs that promote the site and promote the practice of regular design play and experimentation in the day-to-day life of creative individuals.
The Long:
53feet has seen many changes and updates over the years, so I'll tell the story quickly. It began as a web portal, and then, after realizing those sites took a lot of work, turned into a personal folio site. Phase 3 of 53feet.com was a blog styled site for showcasing timed type compositions, and while the format occasionally changed, it remained that way for years. Those compositions slowly morphed into a kind of visual journal that marked what was going on in my life at a specific point in time. The time stamps will be the primary carry-over from the old site.
The name, 53feet, is the result of a summer of travel. Most semis have 53foot long beds, you can see the 53 on the side of nearly every truck, and I was obsessed with counting the number of 53s I saw that summer. When it came time to name my "portal," I liked the sound of the name, so it stuck.
And Inbetween:
All of the compositions on this site are timed. The archived compositions are made in under 15 minutes, and the new compositions are within 15-20min.
